The results are in: 60% of Brits wish they could outsource more

The average Brit spends 208 hours a year doing household tasks, and more than two thirds of us think that's too much.

To celebrate the launch of Airtasker UK we did some research into what Britain’s least favourite household tasks are – and the results are in! We’ve got the lowdown on what you avoid (eg. picking up your pet’s mess) and argue over (which is on average 153 times a year!).

Out of the 2000 Brits asked, the most disliked task was cleaning the oven (22%), with cleaning the toilet a close second (21%). In fact,  Brits would rather just skip the cleaning altogether.

Londoners were found to be the laziest, and the most time poor, with 40% of people living in the city likely to outsource a task so they could spend the time doing something else. The top tasks they’d like to get done include preparing dinner, writing a CV and queuing in line (we were surprised too!).

The research also showed that a lot of us don’t have the skills to do tasks such as assembling furniture or hanging a picture around the home. Most surprisingly, nearly 20% of 18-34 year olds said they don’t know how to change a lightbulb. And don’t stress if you’re one of the 36% of Brits who can’t put up a set of shelves…we know the 64% who do!

Why is Airtasker here? We want to help you not only get more done in your life by posting tasks, but also empower you to use your skills and earn more by helping others.
