Whilst my day is spent looking after marketing for Airtasker, my true passion is fashion! I’m starting a new fashion blog and would like to write a piece about the styles and bloggers that best represent Brighton. In order to do so, I would like someone to help me pick an outfit made up of vintage finds from the North Laines. The budget for the outfit is £100 - £150. I’d like you to try and get some vintage jeans, some cute jewellery and a hat...but I would like you, the fashion expert, to pick the pieces that would help me feel like a true Brighton local. Hi Kristine, My name is Mattu and have lived in Brighton for 13 years having moved form London. One of the reasons I stayed was the Brighton'vibe' you want to capture with fashion and I naturally found so wonderful and surprising when I first moved. I was able to explore fashion in a way I had begun in London. I am a performer and therefore live in the side charity shops and vintage shops that give us all our own unique style. Even depending on what day you choose my network are constantly hosting in house or in venue clothing swaps and meets for charity - again gaining access to a range you cannot get on the high street. Hi Kristine, Having lived in Brighton for 7 years, there have been few weekends that haven't been spent wandering through the lanes browsing through vintage stores. Also finding myself amongst the 9-5 ers, I can't seem to draw my personal time's attention to much else but fashion! This was what first attracted me to Brighton, as I can remember being as young as 6 and having a keen eye for vintage fashion, particularly for the 60s and 70s eras. I work for a vintage company in Brighton, I run their website selling vintage dresses and accessories. I also buy wholesale and sell vintage in my spare time so I'm always looking for a bargain! Apparently I have a great eye to spot real vintage treasures. Also I have lived in Brighton for 12 years so it's familiar territory to hunt out the best stuff at the best prices. Possibly even with some trader discount too! 😊
