Details

Londoners, sports enthusiasts, fans of Harry Potter or not - we need your help! The UK quidditch team are heading to Florence for the World Cup of quidditch between June 27 - July 02. We’re on form, we’re fully trained and we’re ready to take on the best of the best. Last year we won bronze, but we’re soaring and ready to snatch gold from the reigning world champs, the Australian Dropbears. The finals are only weeks away and everything is organised, except for one problem: we need some assistance in Italy. We’re looking for two friends to join us in Florence (from 29 June - 2 July) to work as runners. You’ll be watching the games from the sidelines, as close to the action as possible, helping with water, delivering messages and anything our coach needs. Experience not necessary, but enthusiasm definitely is - you’ll be an honorary member of Team UK so you’ll need to share our team spirit! The itinerary: • Friday 29th June - Fly to Florence (arrive late evening) • Saturday 30th June - Day one: Initial ranking rounds • Sunday 1st July - Day two: Elimination rounds and the final, then the all-important Closing Ceremony and After Party! • Monday 2nd July - Enjoy Florence until your return flight home. We’d need you and your trusty sidekick to be available to join us in Florence for the above dates. We’ll cover your flights, accommodation and some expenses, and of course you’ll get paid. The game schedule is locked in, but there will definitely be time to go exploring and soak up the atmosphere. So, do you have the skills and the spirit to help us win gold in Florence? Make an offer and tell us how you’ll bring your A-game to this task!* Please have your offer in by midday Tuesday 12th June as we'll be locking in the squad that afternoon. *Flights, accommodation, airport transfers and per diems of 70 euros each for 2 people for 3 days will be covered by us. No travel or accommodation will be covered within the UK. Provisional flight times are Friday 29th June 20:40 - 23:20 & Monday 2nd July 18:35 - 19:50. Flights will depart and return to a London airport and include hand luggage only. No insurance will be provided, please ensure you take out travel and sports cover (by a provider that has Quidditch listed as a covered sport). We will cover transport to and from the airport and the event, no transport or other expenses incurred outside of the World Cup event will be covered. The participants must reside in the UK and be over the age of 18.

"Stephen and his friend did an awesome job helping Team UK during the World Cup - there were a few hectic moments and it was great to have a switched on support crew! We really appreciated Stephen bringing his photography skills along too and capturing all the action. Thanks mate!"

New!

I’m a qualified teacher and previously managed a high school football team for two years as well as being a part-time football coach so am familiar with the organisation and responsibilities required with sporting events! I now work as a freelance photographer and social media manager so could offer these skills during the job also if required. I am therefore always on photography/film sets doing production tasks and have lots of experience of being a runner!

Hey Seb! What better way to spend a weekend than watching the UK team smash the Quiddich World Cup? I am a fresh-out-of-uni graduate, who happens to be the biggest Harry Potter fan on the planet. Excited to learn all about muggle Quiddich game, I would love to help the team in anyway possible, providing not only essentials but also keeping up the team spirit as their #1 fan. Although I don’t have specific experience as a runner, I am hard-working, fun-loving and a quick learner and being part of the team (behind the scenes) would be an experience I would cherish for a long time! Hoping to hear from you soon, Chloe

Hi Seb! I am italian ( this might be helpful) and a sports massage therapist so I'm a sports fan and I have a first aid certificate too .

Hi! I am a PE teacher and would be ideal for this!

Some may think this looks daft, but I've always loved the idea of this sport! So much so that I sat for a long while (longer than I care to mention) and carefully crafted a rule set which I think would compliment the sport perfectly and make it even more exciting! It goes a little something like this; Both teams should start with 150 points, every time one team scores a goal they take 10 points away from the other team. If they manage to get the other team's score to zero, they win, no snitch involved. Thus making chasers valuable. Now here's where it gets interesting, catching the snitch takes away 100 points from both teams, the team with the highest score once it is caught, wins. Instead of having someone be exclusively a seeker, they play most of the match as a chaser. Meaning that they score with the rest of the chasers and when they manage to get a lead on the other team they have a short window to catch the snitch in that will win the match until the other team catches back up, they would have a better chance to catch up as the other team would be down one chaser whilst "seeking". This makes it more interesting because catching the snitch would be more of a spectacular feat and not so overpowered, also making the chasers just as important as the seeker/chaser! Phew, TLDR; I'd absolutely love to take part in this!

I absolutely love Harry Potter. Always imagined what it would be like to experience it. Would be a great opportunity for me and my friend. We would be honoured to help out.
